Guest Naturalist - Dr. Susan Blum

Susan blum

Dr. Susan Blum received her Ph.D. from the University of Saskatchewan with a focus on organochlorine dynamics in free-ranging polar bears.  She spent eight years conducting polar bear research in Churchill, Resolute Bay and throughout the central Arctic.  During that time she darted and handled over 2000 polar bears.

After graduation, she accepted a position as Polar Bear Biologist for the Government of Nunavut.  She then moved to the University of Saskatchewan and spent 16 years leading the administration of research ethics, grants, and contracts for the institution.  Currently, she is the Associate Vice-President of Applied Research and Innovation at Saskatchewan Polytechnic and works throughout the province at the four campuses engaging the community and industry on applied research projects.  She also sits on a number of national committees representing Saskatchewan in this sector.

Classic Canadian Tours is pleased to have Dr. Blum join the November 10th Polar Bear Safari from Saskatoon, to share her polar bear knowledge and experience with our tour group.
